The Chicago Tribune said that Ashu is "just as much fun to watch as it is to listen to him." Although Ashu is only in his late-20s, this concert saxophonist has garnered more international awards and competitions than there is room to name. He has defied convention by winning competitions usually won by pianists and violinists, including first Prize in the Musical Olympus International Festival Audience Award in St Petersburg, Russia. He made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall, and, when he was 16, made his concerto debut at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. In the years since then, he has appeared world-wide, from Azerbajian and Canada, to Munich, France and Vienna.
