Jamie Bernstein

Jamie Bernstein

Jamie Bernstein grew up in an atmosphere bursting with music, theater and literature. Her father, Leonard Bernstein, together with her mother, the pianist and actress Felicia Montealegre, created a spontaneous, brilliant household that turned Jamie into a lifelong cultural enthusiast. Jamie has traveled the world as a concert narrator, appearing everywhere from Beijing to Vancouver. In addition to her own scripted narrations, she's performed many of the standards including Walton's "Facade," Copland's "A Lincoln Portrait," and her father's "Kaddish" symphony.

A frequent speaker on musical topics, she is a broadcaster and, for several seasons, hosted the New York Philharmonic's live national broadcasts. Her enthusiasm is infectious and her knowledge of music and musicians encyclopedic. Her return to Music Mondays is in special tribute to the Leonard Bernstein Centennial Year of 2018.
