John Hofmeister

John D. Hofmeister is the founder and CEO of the nonprofit group Citizens for Affordable Energy, Washington, D.C. Founded in 2008, this public policy education firm promotes sound U.S. energy security solutions for the nation, including affordable energy supplies, efficiency improvements, essential infrastructure, sustainable environmental policies and public education on energy issues.

Hofmeister was President of Houston-based Shell Oil Company 2005-2008. He headed the U.S. Country Leadership Team, which included the leaders of all Shell businesses operating in the United States. He served as a Group Director of Shell, based in The Hague.

Mr. Hofmeister serves on the boards for the American Petroleum Institute and the National Urban League. He has been a Director at CAMAC Energy Inc. since April 7, 2010. He is Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Centre for Advanced Human Resources Studies at Cornell University and a member of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technical Advisory Committee. Mr. Hofmeister is a Fellow of the National Academy of Human Resources. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in Political Science from Kansas State University.
