A relative newcomer to the Gulf Coast musical scene, Korean-American soprano Jenny Kim-Godfrey is being hailed as "a fearless and confident performer with a beautiful high voice and excellent flexibility" (Virginia Zeani) She is a Master's graduate of Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and performed with virtually all of their musical groups. She has performed with the New York Summer Music Festival, the Catskill Choral Society, and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
She was featured by the Choral Artists of Sarasota in their premiere of Libby Larsen's chamber opera, as soloist in last season's Poulenc "Gloria", and will return for two more appearances with them this season, including a program featuring her guitarist-husband, Dr. Jonathan Godfrey. Kim-Godfrey is a prizewinner in South Korea's National Vocal competition, the Long Island Symphony Concerto Competition, and was recently a dual grand prize winner of both the St. Petersburg Opera Idol and the Sun City Center Opera Idol competitions. This will be her first solo appearance on SILL's Music Mondays.
