 Margaret Batjer

Margaret Batjer

Margaret Batjer has served as concertmaster of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra since 1998, and she has established herself as a versatile and respected artist worldwide.

She made her first solo appearance at the age of 15 with the Chicago Symphony orchestra. She has since appeared with many of our leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the St. Louis, Seattle and Dallas Symphony Orchestras. She has also performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and the Berlin and Hallé Symphony Orchestras.

Margaret was a longtime participant in the Marlboro Music Festival and has often performed on tour with Music from Marlboro. Her summer activities include the Minnesota Orchestra and LaJolla Summerfests, the Vancouver Chamber music festival and the Naples and Cremona festivals in Italy.

Margaret is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Ivan Galamian and David Cerone. She is currently on the faculty of the USC Thornton School of Music and the Colburn Music Academy. For the past three seasons, she has served on the faculty of the Sarasota Music Festival.
