Tetiana Shafran

A native of Kiev, Ukraine, Tetiana Shafran started playing the piano at the age of three, continued her post-conservatory studies with Oxana Yablonskaya, and has studied in Spain and Israel. She is the prizewinner in approximately 18 international piano competitions and this past November was named Grand Prize Winner in the 2nd Triennial Olga Kern International Piano Competition, jointly sponsored by the New Mexico Philharmonic (Albuquerque) and pianist Olga Kern.

Tetiana has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, North and south America, Africa, and Asia, including the leading concert halls of Oslo, Canberra Australia, Valencia, Spain, and Azerbajian. Her Music Mondays appearance on March 23rd will mark her first American appearance since taking the Grand Prize in the Competition. In addition to a cash award of $15,000, Shafran is awarded with recital appearances in New York City, Milan, Portland, and Austin, as well as orchestral dates in Johannesburg and Durban, South Africa, the San Antonio Symphony and the Pacific Symphony in Orange County, California.
