Broadcaster, writer, teacher and radio personality Robert Sherman has been with WQXR in New York City for over 60 years, where he is host and producer of The McGraw Family's Young Artist Showcase since 1978. For many years he hosted the annual broadcasts of the Avery Fisher Career Grant Awards and his popular folk series, "Woody's Children," now heard on NPR's WFUV, celebrated its 50th year in 2019.
For more than 40 years he was a music critic for The New York Times, and on the faculty of The Juilliard School for nearly 20 years.
A sought-after commentator, lecturer and narrator, he has given seminars at Yale, the Eastman School, NYU and Oberlin, and has been a concert narrator for countless orchestras in the United States.
Also an author of two best sellers with Victor Borge, Sherman and his brother Alexander have completed a pictorial history of their mother, celebrated pianist Nadia Reisenberg, and is president of a foundation devoted to her legacy and that of her sister, renowned Theremin virtuoso, Clara Rockmore.
