Versatile American bass-baritone Kevin Short is thrilling audiences around the globe in repertoire ranging from the depths of Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio and Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea to Verdi's Attila, Bizet's Escamillo, and Wagner's The Flying Dutchman.

A sampling of his North America appearances include performances with the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Houston Grand Opera, the Los Angeles Opera, the Washington Opera, and the Sarasota Opera Company. He has also performed extensively with European opera companies as well as the Saito Kinen Festival in Matsumoto, Japan, and festivals in Beijing and Hanoi. He enjoys an active concert and recital schedule as well.

Mr. Short received his training at Morgan State University, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Juilliard School of Music's American Opera Center. While attending these institutions he was a prize winner in numerous competitions including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He can be heard on his acclaimed solo CD from Pentatone records Mephistopheles and other Bad Guys which was listed by New York City's WQXR radio station as one of the outstanding classical recordings of 2018, and on upcoming recordings including San Francisco Classic's recording of The Girl of the Golden West and Madama Butterfly.
