Rod Adams is a managing partner with Nucleation Capital, a venture capital fund focusing on advanced nuclear energy and deep decarbonization. The fund is building a portfolio of innovative ventures using a new model of venture fundraising that allows accredited investors to make modest quarterly investments. Mr. Adams has been the publisher of Atomic Insights since 1995 and host of the Atomic Show podcast since 2006. He worked at Babcock & Wilcox as a member of a team developing a small modular reactor called mPower. He served for 33 years in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Naval Reserves, and U.S. Naval Academy. He served on two nuclear submarines and in a variety of submarine support roles at Navy Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In 1993 Mr. Adams founded Adams Atomic Engines, a small modular reactor (SMR) company that was ahead of the bleeding edge. After 2003 interest in that technology sector began growing among investors and government entities in the U.S. and internationally. The interest has been expanding rapidly in the period since Russia invaded Ukraine. Mr. Adams holds a B.S. in English from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.S. in Systems Technology from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. |
