Dr. Peter W. Singer is Strategist at New America, a Professor of Practice at Arizona State University, and Founding and Manager Partner at Useful Fiction LLC. He is described in The Wall Street Journal as "the premier futurist in the national-security environment". The Smithsonian named him one of the nation's 100 leading innovators, Defense News one of the 100 most influential people in defense issues, and Foreign Policy to their Top 100 Global Thinkers List.

Dr. Singer is an official "Mad Scientist" for the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command. His non-fiction books include Corporate Warriors: The Rise of the Privatized Military Industry, Children at War, Wired for War: The Robotics Revolution and Conflict in the 21st Century; Cybersecurity and Cyberwar: What Everyone Needs to Know, and Like War, which explores how social media has changed war and politics.

He is also co-author of a new type of novel, a technothriller used to communicate nonfiction research. Ghost Fleet: A Novel of the Next World War led to briefings everywhere from the White House to the Pentagon. His latest, Burn-In: A Novel of the Real Robotic Revolution, has been described as "a visionary new form of storytelling."

Dr. Singer received his B.A. from Princeton University and his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
